Aeterna Noctis has become one of the most anticipated Metroidvania titles of 2021, so we have launched the second chapter of our dev diary, this time focused on the composition and production of the BSO.

Our music department describes in great detail how the creative process of the music of this promising title is like, from the first drafts to the final score and mastering.

Until now, Aeterna Noctis has always stood out for presenting a highly polished result in all its aspects, and the music was not going to be an exception. The team behind the BSO explain to you the importance of knowing all the aspects of the area to which you are going to put background music; its design, what are the visual references, what enemies inhabit it, the nature of the level, if it is an area of ‚Äč‚Äčexploration or combat. It is essential that the melody perfectly fits with what the player is experiencing at that moment.

The criteria we are taken into account when choosing the instruments and voices to create the music tracks is especially highlighted. This selection will depend on the intended effect on the player at the controls of the King of Darkness. A piano melody can be very useful to accompany a relaxed section of platforming and exploration, while to face a final boss there is nothing like an electric guitar and a vocal chorus.

Aeterna Noctis has many virtues, and one of them is an OST loaded with memorable songs. If there is something we wanted to make clear in this new instalment of our dev diary, it is the extreme care that we put in each one of our music tracks.
